Hughes, Inc. was formed on January 28, 1946 by Russel S. Hughes, Harry C. Hughes and Romania S. Hughes. However, the true origins of Hughes, Inc. can be traced back to Hughes Supply, Inc. and its predecessors, Hughes & Son Electrical Contractors and Hughes Electrical Supply Company.
The original partnership formed in 1922 between Russel S. Hughes and his father, Clarence L. Hughes, to do electrical contracting work. In May 1928, the partnership discontinued electrical contracting and entered into the wholesaling of electrical materials and supplies in Orlando and a new firm was created, Hughes Electrical Supply Company.
